October is off to a fast start and all my favorite teams and sports are getting up to speed. The Redskins are off to a great start at 5-2 and should be a top contender in the NFC. The MLB World Series started and the Phillies took an early lead on the Rays. The Capitals continue where they left off last season and are off to a fast start. Did you forget about the surprising college football season and the local ACC teams garnering headlines: UVA, VaTech and MD? AND, the college basketball season started this month as well. Throw in a few Halloween parties, UFC 90 and an upcoming tribute to Hall of Famer Art Monk, it's easy to see why Velocity Five is the HOTTEST place to be!

ESPN 980 is proud to announce its 1st Annual "Night of Legends" honoring newly crowned Washington Redskins Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Art Monk. Many legends have already confirmed their attendance, including Art's fellow Hall of Fame inductees, Darrell Green, Sam Huff, Bobby Mitchell, Charley Taylor and Sonny Jurgensen. Charles Mann, Gary Clark, Rick Walker, Brian Mitchell, Ken Harvey, Dexter Manley, Joe Jacoby, Don Warren, Joe Theismann, Ricky Sanders, Jeff Bostic, Darryl Grant, Neal Olkewicz, Rich Milot and Brian Carpenter will also be in attendance.
